A bold identity designed to capture the imaginations of international scouts and guides
The Essex International Jamboree is held every four years and is an opportunity for 5,000 Scouts and Guides and 1,500 adult volunteers from around the world to gather together. During the week long large scale camp in Essex, they form an international community where everyone has fun experiencing a variety of activities and entertainment.
“It was important for the brand mark to be versatile as in addition to working with Naked Creativity, the client would be working with the graphics on their own using basic software packages. This meant that consideration was taken in how the brand could be applied to the any printed graphics produced externally.”

Over 20 countries attend the Jamboree so an international aspect is core to the whole experience. This provided the basis for the event theme and the new identity developed by Naked Creativity. It was also important that the design fitted comfortably with other Scout organisation logos and could be easily adapted for future jamborees.

A selection of initial logo concepts were developed that contained a universally understandable logo mark, with two options chosen for further development. These were then applied to Scout scarves, posters and badges so that the client could visualise how the identity could be applied to all aspects of the event.
Based on the client feedback, the preferred design was refined, with the ‘burst’ logo mark developed to look like a person. When mixed with bright, vibrant colours, this fun and fresh design became eye catching, memorable and instantly recognisable.
The new Essex International Jamboree brand has been applied to the 2012 event, refreshing the Jamboree’s image to capture the imaginations of international Scouts and Guides.
